PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

As Studio Catenaccio, Grace is currently delivering a complete renovation and extension of a five-bedroom Victorian terrace house in Tufnell Park, north London, which has included successful application for planning permission in a Conservation Area through to construction administration of the project on site. She is also currently working on a conservation project for a Listed house in Hampstead Garden Suburb.

Projects internationally include an interiors scheme for an apartment on the Upper East Side of New York City and a renovation and extension project for a Victorian house in suburban Philadelphia. Previous residential experience delivered independently includes renovation of a mid-century flat in Dartmouth Park, north London, and design consultation on an apartment renovation in Georgetown, Washington, D.C..

In her most recent role for another practice, Associate Director at public realm and urban design consultancy Publica, Grace led central London public realm strategy schemes and design projects for a wide range of public and private sector clients. In spring 2021, to support outdoor public life as part of the West End’s COVID recovery, Grace led Publica’s concept design for the Oxford Street temporary public realm improvement scheme, with new seating and planting delivered along the length of the thoroughfare and along selected side streets.

Before joining Publica, Grace worked in architectural practice for many years, at PDP London and Tim Ronalds Architects in London and at Stantec Architecture, New York. At PDP, Grace’s experience included a six-year multi-project collaboration for the Royal Hospital Chelsea, involving delivery of a mixed-use scheme with office, workshop, and leisure space, within a sensitive historic context.

Residential projects Grace worked on at PDP included design and delivery of a penthouse renovation and roof replacement on Eaton Square, Belgravia, and design through planning and LB applications for the return of York Terrace East, an iconic Nash terrace on Regent’s Park, to its original use as houses. Grace was also a member of the project team for the renovation and conversion of the Royal Star and Garter and Ancaster House, a high-end residential development of two Listed buildings in Richmond, south London, and on numerous design schemes through planning for Listed properties on behalf of major landholders including the Crown, Portman, and Grosvenor Estates.

In addition to her work in practice, Grace is also a design tutor at the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University. She has taught at Princeton University and served as a guest critic at the Bartlett and the London School of Architecture. Her writing and research has been published in the MIT Journal of Planning and in Pidgin, Princeton University’s journal of architecture.

Grace completed her professional architectural training at Princeton University’s School of Architecture and at the Bartlett, University College London. She also holds a Certificate in Urban Policy and Planning from Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs, a BA in Visual and Environmental Studies from Harvard University and a Masters of Philosophy in Architecture and the Moving Image from Cambridge.
